That is a big problem in general, but the immediate problem is that Passepartout does not carry money around like Fogg does. Passepartout is hungry and needs to find transport. He needs money for both things, so he decides that he can earn some money as a street performer. Unfortunately, the clothes that he is wearing do not look like something a street performer would be wearing. They are too nice.
Passepartout decides to sell his extremely European clothing to a clothing dealer. He is able to secure some money and clothing that is more suitable for a street performer. With the money, he is able to buy himself some breakfast from a teahouse.
