In Chapter 15, Bud arrives at Grand Calloway Station. Grand Calloway Station is the name of Herman E. Calloway's gigantic home. In Chapter 15, Bud arrives at Grand Calloway Station. Grand Calloway Station is the name of Herman E. Calloway's gigantic home. Miss Thomas explains to Bud that Herman named it that because a long time ago there were so many people coming and going from the house that it reminded him of New York City's Grand Central Station. Miss Thomas and Herman live in the home together and sleep in separate rooms down the hall from where Bud stays. Miss Thomas walks Bud to another room, which used to belong to a girl who passed away. In Bud's room, there is a bed with a window, and two small closet doors on the other side of the room. There are a chair and a vanity table with a mirror attached to it in between the closet doors. Next to the bed is a nightstand with a picture of a skinny black horse. Bud says that the best thing about the room is a wall that is covered with pictures of horses cut out from magazines. He comments that posting that many pictures must have taken someone a very long time. Bud is comfortable in the bed, and is not aware that he is staying in his mother's childhood bedroom.
