Was Nora justified in breaking the law, or was there another option open to her in "A Doll House"?

Nora has acted courageously and entirely out of love for her husband when she secures the loan for their trip to Italy, a trip that saved the life of Torvald.

After Nora is reunited with her friend Kristine Linde, she tells her, "Torvald would have died if he hadn't gone." Nevertheless, Mrs. Linde remarks, "I'm beginning to think you've done something very foolish Nora." Then, Nora responds, "Is it foolish to save your husband's life?"

Nora explains that the doctors came to her, saying that Torvald's life was in danger, and that nothing could save him but a stay in Southern Europe. When she told Torvald how lovely it would be if she could travel abroad as other wives have done, and she hinted that he could borrow the money, her urgings "almost made him angry" with her. He insisted that she not be so irresponsible, and he asserted that he would not give in to her moods. Therefore, Nora decided that she would have to find a way to save her husband. There was no other option, then, but for Nora to obtain the money as she could by breaking the law.

When her husband learns that Nora has borrowed the money through forgery, he is outraged because he becomes anxious for his reputation; he knows Korgstad may ruin it. Moreover, he fails to show any gratitude that his wife has saved his life; instead, he accuses her of being an "irresponsible woman," berating her, "Now, do you understand what you've done to me!" His selfishness precipitates her awakening, and she decides that she can no longer live in "a doll house" where she merely dances and performs for her husband without any love and appreciation in return.
